I find that aqueous media has infinite possibilities. I often start a painting with free sweeping washes or by pouring watermedia over a dampened surface, letting the paint flow freely in selected areas, adding textural effects. The evolving spaces and textures let me sense the development of emerging images and my internal responses to it. Exploring and challenging the medium, helps me grow in technical aspects and in my personal expression. The joy of discovery lets me find new ideas and think in a freer, more abstract way. I am a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and a member of Women Painters of Washington, Seattle Print Arts, Quartermaster Press and Barnworks. My paintings have been selected for numerous National and Regional Juried Exhibitions. My education includes a 4-year degree in Graphic Arts and Commercial Art from the Werkkunstschule, Hannover, Germany.-- My watercolor classes continue to be offered seasonally on Vashon Island. |
