Late in 2002, Jerry picked up his first paint brush in over three decades and began an exploration of his second life-work. The following spring he enrolled in the first of many subsequent workshops, initially focusing his attention on the watercolor medium. A year later he expanded his chromatic horizons by experiencing the pigment-on-the-hands intimacy of pastel painting. In both mediums, Jerry is primarily drawn to the dynamic light and dramatic colors of landscape painting and painting on location whenever possible. Jerry is a member of both the Northwest Watercolor Society and the Northwest Pastel Society. His work has been shown in both Society's member shows. On Vashon, his pieces have been in the Heron's Nest, Blue Heron and Waterworks Galleries, as well as in a number of Barnworks Studio shows. One of his recent works, "Backroad to Burton", won an Honorable Mention award at the 2006 Vashon Plein Air Festival. |
