Mary Hodgins

Through the last twenty years of exploring painting, my work has taken me in many directions. My first love was watercolor for its transparency and intense color. Over the years I have expanded to blending other media with watercolor such as acrylics, pastels, and pigment powders.

Three years ago my husband and I started traveling more which diminished my painting time but increased time in museums, galleries and researching my favorite artists. While bicycling in Holland I was thrilled by many Van Goghs and other impressionistic art. This year bicycling in Provence, France, we walked in Van Gogh's foot steps. Now, I am painting on canvas with acrylics. It feels like a new beginning; more abstract with lots of texture. I am very excited to present my latest paintings.
